On December 15, 2016, Attorney Sico secured a temporary restraining order against Valero and Ergon Asphalt & Emulsions, Inc. on behalf of his clients, the owners of WaterStreet, Ltd. and Costa Sur Peruvian Fusion, LLC—two local businesses.
It is believed that Valero and Ergon Asphalt & Emulsions, Inc. may have had some role in current water contamination crisis. The restraining order prevents the companies and any of their subsidiaries from tampering with the evidence needed to substantiate the exact causes of the contamination.
"Our small businesses and community have suffered through numerous water boil orders and now are facing a menacing chemical exposure risk," Attorney Sico said in a statement. "The community has a right to know who is responsible for this crisis, the amount and type of chemical agents that are involved and information about how long we have been exposed to this threat. We are becoming increasingly concerned as to why our city government has taken so long to identify those who are potentially responsible."
A plea for water was made earlier today, but it is doubtful that clean water will be provided for local businesses and residences anytime soon. Attorney Sico and his team are remaining vigilant as this case progresses and the local Corpus Christi community grapples with the potential ramifications of the contamination.
This is not the first time that Attorney Sico has been involved in a water contamination matter. He recovered more than a million dollars for the Texas State Aquarium when the facility and its marine life suffered damages caused by chemical supplier who mislabeled hazardous materials. Attorney Sico is also recognized as having recovered the largest jury verdict in United States history: $150 billion on behalf of a sexual assault victim who was burned by the attacker.
