Meet Bennett A. Midlo
Catastrophic Injury Trial Attorney
Bennett A. Midlo joined the Houston office in 2017 as a trial lawyer with more than 32 years of experience. Mr. Midlo began his career handling complex commercial matters, including antitrust litigation, and professional negligence cases involving one of the country’s then “Big 6” accounting firms. He subsequently worked for a number of years on medical negligence and residential/commercial construction negligence and product liability claims. Over the past dozen years, Mr. Midlo has devoted his efforts to representing individuals and families in product liability and industrial incident cases across the United States involving catastrophic personal injuries and death. In that time, the matters handled by Mr. Midlo were resolved for in excess of $140 million.
Mr. Midlo has focused his recent work representing Plaintiffs on product liability matters involving automobile and tire defect claims. These matters have included automobile crashworthiness claims involving automobile roofs, seatbelts, seating systems, windows, airbags and other injury prevention systems, as well as accident avoidance systems, such as electronic stability control. He also has extensive experience prosecuting claims of tire design and manufacturing defects in automobile tire tread separation cases against both national and international tire manufacturers.
Mr. Midlo has represented injured workers and the families of individuals killed in industrial crane collapse cases, petrochemical plant explosion cases, and hydrocarbon transmission and storage facility fire cases. In June 2010, Mr. Midlo co-tried a case representing the young widow, three children under the age of 6, and the father of a 27-year-old man killed on-the-job in the explosion of a hot oil heater at a natural gas processing plant in north Texas. The $82.5 million verdict in that case was the largest in Harris County history in a trial involving a single death.
